I’m so excited to welcome you to the Jaimie Lee Creative blog! And what better way to start a blog than with an introduction post, right?
You probably ended up here from my Instagram account (@jaimieleecreative), via a friendly referral (hello, wonderful clients!)…or you’re my mom (hi mom!).
Whatever brought you here, please know that I am virtually toasting you with a tall glass of orange juice in one hand and a sneaky bottle of prosecco in the other. ?
When I was little, my parents used to call me “The Reporter.” I was always on the hunt for answers, 300 pages into an encyclopedia, or tugging on someone’s jacket with a pressing question. During 5th-grade recess, I started the Take a Break Times with my friends. In high school, I became the first sophomore Editor in Chief of my high school newspaper. Researching and writing were always in me.
I majored in Opera Studies at university, with minors in French, Mass Communication, and Wine Studies. I had the immense privilege of traveling throughout my undergraduate career, from choir trips to Central America and January term classes in the Caribbean. My favorite was the dreamy year learning French in Aix-en-Provence and skipping class to go to the opera in Vienna (all drinking some fabulous wine, to boot!).
The hardest class I took was called Information Gathering. I’ll be honest, it was dreaded by all Mass Comm students. Taking this class meant giving up your life for the semester because you were about to break records for time spent in the library.
Learning how to research effectively, how to interview sources, how to annotate correctly, how to synthesize information succinctly, and how to take naps in the library armchairs were all critical skills that I took away from IG. And they’re skills I still use today as a conversion copywriter.
Before becoming a copywriter, I was an English teacher. I taught English in France, Costa Rica, and to the cutest kiddos in China via the power of the internet. I kept honing my writing skills by diving deeper into learning how my native language works.
Understanding grammar rules means better knowing when to break them—and when to leave them as is. Learning French and Spanish also helped with my understanding of syntax, wordplay, and vocabulary. Every language is the language of love when you love learning languages.
As a copywriter, my job is to sell your story with words that sound and feel like you. It’s also my job to back up those words with the strategy, research, and marketing principles that will get your ideal clients nodding along and converting into dream customers.
For writing high-converting, strategy-backed copy I follow my three-C method: connect, coach, convert. The words that I write will connect your audience with you on a profound level. They will coach your ideal client throughout the page into saying a resounding “yes.” And most importantly, those words convert.
More than anything, my role as a conversion copywriter is to care about your business just as much as you do. I love diving in and learning about my client’s work—it’s inspiring to see what other entrepreneurs are doing from behind the scenes! Then, I help you reach your goals via the most persuasive salesperson on your team: the copy.
While you’re answering DMs, planning out your course curriculum, and working with your clients, the copy is selling for you when you can’t. That’s the magic of conversion copywriting. And it’s the magic I am so passionate about bringing to your business.
Cheers,
